How to Delete, Merge, and Increase Hard Disk Partitions
Sometimes, your C drive runs low on space because extra partitions have been created. If you want to delete, merge, or expand partitions, follow these simple steps using Windows Disk Management.
Step 1: Open Disk Management
- Right-click on "This PC" (or "My Computer").
- Select Manage.
- Click on Disk Management in the left panel.
- You will now see a list of all the partitions on your hard drive.
Step 2: Delete an Unwanted Partition
- Locate the partition you want to delete.
- Right-click on the partition and choose Delete Volume.
- Confirm the deletion. The partition will now be marked as Unallocated space.
Step 3: Merge the Unallocated Space with Another Partition
- Locate the drive you want to increase in size (e.g., the C drive).
- Right-click on it and select Extend Volume.
- Click Next, then select the unallocated space.
- Click Next again, then Finish.
Final Result:
The unallocated space is now added to your selected partition, increasing its storage capacity.
