If you’ve forgotten your Android phone’s lock or pattern, here’s how you can perform a factory reset to unlock it. Keep in mind that performing a factory reset will erase all data on your device, including apps, settings, and personal files.
Steps to Unlock Android Mobile Lock or Pattern:
Turn off your Android phone:
- Power off the device completely.
Remove the battery (if possible) and reinsert it:
- If your phone has a removable battery, remove it and put it back in. If the battery is non-removable, just skip this step.
Enter Recovery Mode:
- Press and hold both the Volume Up button and the Power button at the same time.
Release the buttons:
- Once the device logo appears on the screen, release the buttons. You should now be in Recovery Mode.
Navigate using Volume buttons:
- In recovery mode, the touch screen might not work, so use the Volume Up/Down buttons to navigate.
Select "Wipe data/factory reset":
- Use the Volume Down button to scroll to "Wipe data/factory reset" and select it by pressing the Power button.
Confirm the action:
- Select "Yes" when asked to confirm the factory reset.
Reboot your phone:
- After the reset is complete, select "Reboot system now" to restart your phone.
Set up your phone:
- Once the phone reboots, you'll be able to set it up as if it were brand new, without the previous lock or pattern.
Important Note:
- Data Loss: This process will erase all the data on your device, so be sure to back up your important files if you can access your device before performing the reset.
- Google Account: After the reset, you may be prompted to sign in with the Google account that was previously linked to the device as part of the Factory Reset Protection (FRP). This is a security measure to prevent unauthorized access to your phone.
